Susan Sanders-Young

Susan has been dedicated to family law since 1996, bringing nearly three decades of experience in resolving complex family matters with care and efficiency. She earned her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University and her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. With a deep understanding of the legal and emotional challenges families face, Susan is committed to finding practical, compassionate solutions that prioritize the client’s best interests and long-term well-being.

In addition to running her own successful law practice, Susan is a trained mediator, her extensive experience allows her to handle even the most challenging client concerns with a focus on resolution, communication, and problem-solving. Whether de-escalating conflicts, guiding clients through difficult decisions, or helping them navigate the legal process with clarity, Susan provides the steady support and expertise needed to move forward with confidence.

Since becoming a Certified Family Law Specialist in 2007, Susan has been dedicated to helping clients work through the challenges of family law with reassurance and fairness in mind. Having gained extensive experience in mediation and conflict resolution, she specializes in addressing client concerns, de-escalating conflicts, and finding solutions that prioritize both legal outcomes and emotional well-being. Her strong communication skills and problem-solving approach ensure that clients feel heard and supported throughout the legal process.

Additionally, she has completed all required courses for Minor’s Counsel through the San Diego Family Law Bar Association, further equipping her to handle sensitive family dynamics with care and professionalism.

A respected member of the legal community, her ability to assess complex client issues, manage expectations, and facilitate resolutions makes her an invaluable resource in ensuring a smooth and positive client experience.

In the Community

Deeply committed to her local community, Susan has dedicated her time to volunteering across San Diego, serving as a member of the Shelter Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Shelter Valley Community Corporation, and the Julian area CERT Team. She has also provided pro bono legal services through Community Law Day events, ensuring that those in need have access to legal representation. Most recently, she has enjoyed giving back through the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, including time as a campground host.

Outside of her legal work, Susan cherishes time with her children, grandchildren, and three dogs. Her love for family, community, and the outdoors reflects the same dedication and care she brings to her clients, helping them navigate life’s transitions with compassion and expertise.
